After the ecstasy....the laundry.

Ah, we've reached the end of the month of June. Usually one of my busiest months. Second only to December, when I start hearing the William Tell Overture playing in my head. Click here for context.
This year my busy-ness included 3 Corporate Wellness events (a Nature Walk, Desk Yoga as part of a corporate mental health initiative and a workshop as part of a "Feel Good @ Work day" event), mixed in with a visit from my girls and their partners, and walking from my studio to home several days per week with a large fan on my back to cool everyone down during a heat wave (...this might continue for a little while).
Here is a post I wrote 5 years ago that reminds me that I can still move through my busy moments in life with a sense of inner calm and ease in my body. It truly is possible to be both; busy and calm at the same time...this took me years to really learn this (p.s. I'm always still learning). Here is the 5 year old post:

"After the ecstasy...the laundry." Jack Kornfield.
If that is not my favorite book, it certainly is one of my favorite titles of a book.
I think of it every time life takes on a frenetic pace. There are many wonderful things to celebrate right now; my daughter's graduation, being able to see family soon, a much-needed pause from work, but there is also a certain frenzy, a gallop.
Soon I will be happily ensconced in an economy seat for 11 hours and not even able to pick up a sock. Is that the ecstasy or the laundry? Sometimes it's all in the way you frame it.
I was reminded twice; once by a good friend (thank you Susi) and once today by my daughter not to focus so much on the busyness (how easily I tend to forget), but remember the moments in between. A coffee with friends, a nice lunch with my family, the formation of the clouds over the lake.
Today I am reminded to enjoy the journey.
Perhaps, even the laundry
