Gathering Our Precious Attention Inward

ree

The more I practice and share these teachings, the more I see yoga mindfulness, and movement as energy management tools; ways of tending to our inner reserves and bringing our attention inward with care.

In our busy lives, we often lean toward the more energetic side of practice: strong flows, stimulating breathwork, and dynamic movement. These practices are wonderful supports for managing stress and maintaining balance.

During our recent weekend retreat, we explored this active side through Qi Gong, Breath of Joy, and hip-opening sequences, allowing energy to circulate freely and clear the stagnation that accumulates from daily life.

We also took time to lean into the softer side of practice, the part that calls us to gather our attention inward, rest deeply, and remember that we can let go. Through restorative yoga, Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril breathing), and quiet moments of stillness, we practiced listening to the body’s more subtle rhythms, the quiet flow of energy beneath the surface.

Nature is a wise teacher for this season of release. As autumn unfolds, it shows us how to let go gracefully and shed what is no longer needed. When we practice letting go in the body through movement and breath, the mind often follows.

Throughout the weekend, poetry wove its way through our time together, reminding us to soften, breathe, and trust the natural rhythm of life.

As you move through the days ahead, may your practice be a balance between movement and stillness, between doing and simply being. Take time to gather your precious attention inward, and treat yourself with gentleness and care.

If this reflection resonates with you, I invite you to join me for future yoga and mindfulness retreats where we continue exploring these practices together in community.

With gratitude,

Jennifer
